Fire Safety Trailer

The fire safety trailer, left, features a living room, kitchen and bedroom for teaching children fire safety concepts within a home environment. The trailer features artificial smoke (like at an amusement park) and smoke detectors to simulate the sights and sounds of a fire in a home. Each spring the trailer goes to all schools in the district for third and fourth grade students. Each fall classroom based instruction is conducted during Fire Safety Week and the month of October with pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. Fifth graders participate in a fire prevention poster contest.
